Bottle from Spirited Wine, Manchester. More golden ale than best bitter in character. Golden with a nice light fruitiness.

Bottle. Nose is light bitter, nettle, slightly soapy, slightly musty. Goldern amber in colour with no head at all. Taste is lightly bitter, notes of orange, honey, limited hops. Finish is a lightly nettle bitter. Mouthfeel is awful, no carbonation to speak of, slightly oily. Overall a decent session beer, but not one I would seek out again.

Cask, gravity dispense at Merton Summer Beer Festival July 18th and 19th 2008 I had this on a few occasions over the course of the weekend and whilst it was fine I felt that this one was going to be better than it actually was. Poured light golden in colour with white frothy small head. This was tasty and refreshing and a decent session ale but it lacked the sort of bite and depth that I’d hoped for. There was a nice hoppiness at the end but maybe I was expecting more in this department, still it can’t really be faulted in the decent tasty session beer catergory and maybe I should just lower my expectations a little.
