Cask , gravity at The Ship and Mitre, Beer Festival, Liverpool, 29-11-08. Pours a mid to light amber. The is furiously bitter with grapefruits, zest and some jiffy lemon coursing through the mouth. Really lovely juicy beer, that starts to sweet a little with the taste of Opal fruits also present. This is very good beer. A7 A4 F8 P4 OV16 3.9

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Pale gold with a creamy white head; citrus aroma; powerful grapefruit taste; with a tart and bitter finish. Rather good.

Cask-conditioned at the Crosse Keys, Gracechurch Street, 8/4/08. Golden coloured with next to no head. Big citrus hop aroma followed by flavours of grapefruit and elderflowers. A very hoppy, dry finish. Good, but lacking a little something.

Cask handpull at County Hotel Sporks, Ashford. This was a bit strange. The first time I had it I thought it was excellent, the second time a few hours later, it was only just ok. So this rating is the first one. Really looking forward to this one due to the hop varieties used and Roosters history. Paleish gold with lasting off white head. Kiwi fruit. Lemony aroma. Some grapefruit. It’s fine. A little less full on than the Stone DIPA which has just about ruined every hoppy beer in Britain for me. It’s balanced, a bit nettley, great condition. Good biscuit and rather tasty.
