Bottle at the RBESG08 Grand Tasting. Clear deep amber with thin beige head. Rather a lovely hop sweet DIPA aroma. Strong malt, toffee in mouth. Bit malt whiskyish, bit overpowering. Some yeast. It’s a bit strong, but good hop and character.

Bottle, RBESG, grand tasting. What a way to start the tasting... a 9.8% Belgian style ale. Poured a lovely dark amber-red with a small off white head. Lovely nose, some red fruit, caramel, alcohol. Nice and pungent. Taste... bitter and sourish, fruity. Light dry chalky spiciness. Piney. Some warming alcohol. Odd, but not in a bad way. Interesting.

Bottle. An almost clear, copper beer with an off-white head. Chocolate, toffee, caramel, some fruits, dried fruits and a nice hoppyness in the aroma. Warming, full-bodied mouthfeel with a nice carbonation level, and flavors of fruit and toffee, some alcohol, sweetness and a nice bitterness. Long sweet, toffeeish finish wit a nice bitterness. Maybe the beer is a bit toffeeish, but it’s still quite lovely. Not the typical Belgian one, rather strange in a way, but in a good way. (080530)

Dark mahogany color; medium head, reducing quickly. The light aroma shows some Belgian yeast and a sweet candy-like touch. Good mouthfeel, good caramel flavor with some residual sweetness, complemented by the Dugges yeast, a light fruity touch and a very light roasted malt trace. Dynamic, quite complex, fully enjoyable.

50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden amber with a lacing white head. Solid malt aroma with a dark fruit note. Flavour is solid caramel malt flavoured with a distinct roasted note and dried fruity. Light roasted and mild finish yet with a distinct dried fruity note.

500 ml bottle@SBC 2008. Dark reddish/brown body with a small beige head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, candy sugar, caramel and a hint of warming alcohol. Flavor is sweet, slightly roasted malt, fruity, brown sugar, some alcohol and a fine moderate bitterness makes this feeling a bit dryer than a typical Belgian dubbel. Very nice and dangerously easy drinkable. Well done Dugges!

Bottled at Bishop’s Arms Vasagatan, Stockholm. Clear reddish brown with rich creamy head. Aroma of cherries, licorice and grass. Sweet with clean, rounded mouthfeel and medium body. Dextrose and alcohol dominates, but there’s also fruity black currant, licorice, aniseed and grain. Salty with surprisingly bitter finish. An American style Belgian style ale, complicated rather than complex.
