Exceptional in Summer, Irresistible All Year Round. Enticing floral aromas from Cascade hops while Hersbrucker add more floral and soft fruit, Northdown hops develop aromas and light bitterness, all balanced by a malty moreish flavour and satisfying bitterness. Malted wheat ensures a silky smooth finish.

Cask at The Standing Order. Pours clear pale gold, thin white head. Light citrus aromas, lemon, bread. Taste is more of the same. Didn’t expect much, but was OK.

On cask at the Standing Order. Appearance - lemon golden with a proportionate head. Nose - lemon and flowers. Taste - custard and lemon meringue pie. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall -one of Caledonian ’ s better efforts.

Cask at Stone Loach Market Deeping. Light copper colour, with fine white head. Fairly acidic taste, but the beer probably wasn’t at its best.

Cask at the Hour Glass, High Wycombe. Pours a vivid clear gold with a thick white head. Noticeable hops up front were a surprise - floral notes followed by a lively, fresh citrus flavour - but there’s a creamy mouthfeel, giving a beer that is at the same time crisp and refreshing yet smooth and easy-drinking. Honey lingers for a while afterwards. Pleasantly surprised by this one; it’s a really good UK-style golden ale that doesn’t pander to the APA style.

Cask at GBBF 2013. It pours clear golden yellow with a small white head. The nose is hay, farmyard, light sulphur and grainy. The taste is smooth, tangy citrus, lemon, lime, grapefruit, grainy, earth, dough and metallic edge with a dry finish. Very so-so...

Cask at the Four Horseshoes, Chobham, 27/07/13. Badged as ’Golden XPA’. Clear golden with a moderately sized white head that retains well. Nose is orange sherbet, floral hops, summer fruits. Taste comprises light hops, vanilla essence, perfumed notes. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, light bitterness in the finish. Pleasant enough and inoffensive GB.

Two hand-pulled pints in ’The Barley’, a modern refurbished pub in Newport, Shropshire on 27 Apr 2013. Light golden body with an off-white head which started off thin and got thinner by the second. No huge aroma: a blend of biscuity malts and floral hops almost cancelled each other out. The taste was fairly bland I’m afraid: some malt semi-sweetness and a hop content that tried to add some bitterness, but overall it didn’t do it for me, even though I had two pints, just to make sure. Mildly citrus towards the end of each sip, but nothing strong or robust about the beer at all. Mid-bodied and OK as a session beer I suppose, just lacked the umph I’d have liked.

Golden with no head. Has an ordinary malty aroma but also tasty biscuit notes within its flavour.
