Bottle shared (warning- started leaking before opening and when it was opened let out a lot of pressure. Surprised the bottle didn’t explode). Very hazy dull dark golden with an off white head. Aroma of malt, grain, herbs and light fruits. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Light medium bodied with soft carbonation. [13-07-2016]

"Borsbeeks blond bier" made for the municipality of Borsbeek near Antwerp. Slow gusher but manageable. Initially very thick, frothy, dense, egg-white head, slowly decreasing in size but remaining stable and leaving thick patches of lacing on the edge of the glass, sustained by strong fizz in a lightly hazy, ’old gold’ coloured beer, becoming misty and more ochre-ish with sediment. Aroma of pineapple, green banana, orange peel, white pepper, dried grass, baker’s yeast, chicory, gooseberry, white bread dough, apple peel. Fizzy, fruity onset, hints of green banana, raw pineapple and unripe stonefruit, vaguely sweetish and softly sourish with hints of bitterness present from the start, sharply carbonated but that does not bother me too much in this particular style which, after all, originated as a top-fermented alternative to pale lager. Lean, supple pale malt sweetishness in the middle with a pleasant bready touch to it, which further increases in the finish due to the yeast, paired with a growing and eventually relatively firm, earthy, chicory- and wormwood-like hop bitterness which nicely dries the ending and lingers for a while. Technically as good as correct, a tad overcarbonated perhaps, but more hop bitter than average for a Belgian blonde and actually quite balanced and enjoyable. Cliché, but I expected worse.

Bottle @ home. Hazy yellow color, huge foamy white head. Aroma is malts, yeast, a hint of citrus. Taste malts, again lightly citrus and some yeast, medium bitterness. Decent body, firm a bit fizzy carbonation. Apart from the annoying carbonation it’s an ok beer.

33cl bottle shared with kermis. The bottle was half empty and had somehow escaped leaving a mouldy mess in the cardboard box. Thin white head. Cloudy blond pour. Average.

Donkergeel bier met veel schuim. Smaak is licht bitter hoppig, licht zoetzuur met iets van citrus en thee. Heeft iets van een IPA.

Taste: sweet start, weird spicy bitterness, curry, bit sweet, very yeasty. Aftertaste: bitter touch, orange peel, bit sweet, some honey, hay, bit malty, sugary. Pretty decent Belgian beer.
