Tysk inspireret dobbeltbock.

Tap @ Skagen. Dark reddish brown appearance with a tan head. Nice nutty, toasty malty, light chocolate, grassy, caramel nose. Toffee, caramel, a touch of coffee, straw, a touch fruity flavor. The best at Skagen that I had.

500ml bottle. Dark ruby with a fine lasting thick beige head. Dark malt and hops aroma. Soft and creamy, almost a bit light for a doppelbock. Sweet with a somewhat spicy finish. Really nice.

Rerate bottle, shared by my beerpal Olav (bought at Skagen Bryghus). No sign of infection / no vinegary notes this time, so I’m upping it a couple points. Original rating: 500 ml bottle, from SuperBest Hjørring. ABV is 7.5%. Very dark brown colour, huge beige head. Strong aroma of malts with hints of caramel, also distinct fruity and red wine vinegary notes. Infected? The flavour is malty, fruity and very sweet, with loads of caramel, and the moderate hops are only noticeable in the aftertaste. Too sweet, possibly slightly infected, and not really something I’d buy again.

Bottle. A small, dense, beige head sits on top of a clear, reddish brown body. The aroma is meaty and smoked, slightly roasted and with some coocked vegetables. Not superb aroma, but the flavor is on a different level. It’s sweet and roasted with an underlying smokyness. It’s full-bodied and a bit sweetish, finishing as it started, sweet, meaty and smoked. A quite pleasant one, needing some time in the glass to reveal what it has to offer. 101126

Bottled (BB 12/2011)
Dark ruby color, small tan head, some lace. Caramelly, slightly toasted aroma with grassy hoppyness. Caramelly, hoppy bitter doublebock. Lot of everything: sweetness and bitterness. Unorthodox doppelbock, but I like it.

Bottled (thanks Papsoe!). Deep ruby colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is leathery, fruity, sweet malty as well as mild notes of red berries. Flavour is bready, red berries, some slight yeast and mild earthyness as well. Quite nice doppelbock.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Clear orangey brown with an off-white head leaving laces. Fat aroma of pumpernickel and roasted malt. Quite full-bodied with solid roasted malt, pumpernickel and a little salt. Some alcohol in the finish. Very solid. 200409
