Clear nutty color with a creamy off white head. Lovely lacy. Toffee, butterscotch and malty. Medium body and a soft carbonation. Tad sweet and a mild bitterness. Dull boring stuff.

Pours dark amber with a proportionate head. The nose has toffee and malt. The taste is very much sweet toffee with some malt astringency. The palate is medium bodied and textured with a slightly cloying finish. Overall, nothing special.

Crosse Keys Spoons. Clear amber beer. Residual white head. Light dry palate. Low carbonation. Boiled sweets with a trace of hop bitterness. Mild toffee malt underneath. Finishes dry with an unexpected smoky note.

Cask at the John Logie Baird (JDW), Hastings. A straightforward Scottish-style bitter - dark caramel in colour with a thin white head; malty aroma; ruity malt flavour with some sweet caramel; and a shortbread biscuit finish with some pleasant light hops to offset the sweetness.

Cask at The Crosse Keys, JDW, London. Pours clear gold with a fine, white head. Sugary malt aroma, perhaps some fruits. Sweet flavor, some fruit, toast, mild bitterness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, sugar, bit of leaves, toast, and, oddly enouugh, smoke. Like cigarette smoke. Interesting.
