Keg at Liquid Dreams 26. Dark chestnut. Foamy off-white head. Aroma has warming fruit and spice. Flavourwise it has the aroma elements plus spice and resin. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry astringent finish

Bought locally, packaged December 6th 2024.

Deep clear amber, plenty of foam, very good retention and lacing.

Smell is pine, orange zest, light caramel malt.

Taste is pine, orange, light caramel malt, still quite bitter overall.

Soft mouthfeel, this is Bigfoot!

Bottle from De Bierkoning, Amsterdam, Netherlands. An amber/brown coloured with a medium off white head on top. Hoppy, malty, caramel, pine taste and aroma. Nice bitterness and still a great beer. Not had this beer for at least a decade and it's less bitter IMO which makes it even easier to drink.

12 oz bottle. Aroma is citrusy, burnt caramel, floral, old lady perfume, orange. Pours hazy amber with a one+ finger beige head with decent retention. Taste is bittersweet with caramel malt and stale citrusy hop flavors. More like an old school imperial IPA that’s been sitting on the shelf months past its prime than a real barleywine. This is sad, because this is the beer that got me into craft beer almost 30 years ago. Now it’s tasting really substandard.

Bottles from House Of Trembling Madness. Amber body with a light haze and a beige head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of raisin, strawberry syrup and toffee. Flavour of malt sweetness, black pepper and a whack of bittering hops. Medium to full body with a smooth mouthfeel. Soft fizz. A hoppy, peppery barley wine. I’m glad I bought a couple more bottles.

Bottle. My first in a number of years; a pleasure to find it again. Nose is malty, bread, brown sugar, a resinous, hoppy pine.

Taste is big resin, pine, grapefruit, honey, leading to brown sugar, a hint of vanilla, more pine, , dough, malt, and a peppery pine finish.

It's a wonderful beer and I have missed it.
