Our Goodens Gold is a unique blend of some of Hampshire’s finest low colour and lightly caramelised malted barley with a selection of British and North American hops. With notes of grassy pine and citrus with a lingering aftertaste, this classic “Golden Ale” has a good level of bitterness and flavour to balance the gravity. The multi award winning Goodens Gold is named after Godwins who farmed the Flower Pots land in the early 19th Century and who famously produced the first Flower Pot pint of ale.

Golden colour, floral and honeyish aroma. Fruity and a little bit spicy in the palate. Can taste alcohol, which I don’t normally appreciate in a standard cask ale.

Cask at the Guide Dog - St Denys (So’ton) - 09/09/12. Mid golden colour with a medium white head that soon thins but retains some presence to the end. Sweet caramel nose with some hops and toffee. Tastes of sweet toffee, soft fruits and a little hops. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Cask, gravity dispensed, at the Flowerpots in Cheriton. Pale amber with a ring of white head; the aroma is grainy with some honey; a rich, syrupy, texture, full bodied and not too sweet, with some resinous hops that kick in straightaway and build towards the finish, leaving a lingering dry spiciness.

Cask (Guide Dog,Southampton) - Golden in colour with a small head. Hoppy aroma with grapefruit and a twist of lemon. A well balanced malt and hop combination. Lovely hoppy taste with tangy grapefruit. Very nice and much better than it used to be.

Cask, gravity at the Flowerpots brewpub, Cheriton, Hampshire 6th June 2008 Pours warm gold in fact it looks stunning, great clarity and with the tiniest white head. Some honey starts to push though early on and then once the bitterness takes over leaking citrussyness across the roof and edges of the mouth the honey starts to return with sweet malts but also some florally flavours. A good beer but not as good as I was expecting. A6 A4 F7 P3 Ov13 3.3 Had this again on Cask handpump at The Bell, Banbury, Oxon, 22-03-10 Banbury Beer Festival Meeting. Pours warm gold, this has a streaky bitterness running through this. Excellent clarity, nice furry bitterness, citrus grabbing you again, sweet & fruity but pleasant stuff once again the condition and appearance is still very good as is the temperature, and these have been on now for 3-4 days now!
