Bottle shared by Sean! Poured a clear amber with an off-white head that quickly dissipated to the edges. Aroma was full of sweet notes such as caramel, toffee and sweet grains. Flavor was similar as there were notes of caramel, toffee and sweet bread. Beer was quite smooth.

Bottle sample at a tasting. From a trade with anders. Thanks! Dark reddish-amber color. Aroma of malt, fruits and pralines notes. Sweet flavor with malt, fruitcake notes and toffee. Medium-full body. A nice refined strong ale.

At a tasting, thanks DSG, no head, deep brown colour with some burgundy red taints, flavour of chocolate cake, fudge and coconut, flavours of dark chocolate and a melange of dried fruits. Mellow and finely balanced. It sits on you.

33cl bottle from Bacchanalia, Cambridge - rating #1700. Opaque reddish brown with a film of tan head; rich spicy aroma with vinous malts; luscious fruity flavour with raisins, figs and dates all well soaked in alcohol to start, but also rather salty, peaty and smoky - reminding me of an Islay malt whisky. The finish is long and mellow, as befits a "sipping" beer like this.
