Dark, with a thin head. Big coriander aroma, with unibroue yeast. On the palate, it's coriander, maybe mace, liquorice, a bit of alcohol, dates, fruitcake, and Unibroue yeast. This one's quite complex.

My first new rating on Brewver. Similar to all of the past years with malt and light spice, sweet, but the palate seemed a little thin compared to past years. --- Beer merged from original tick of Vintage Ale (2024) on 18 Jan 2025 at 22:51 - Score: 7

Bottle: Poured a deep copper/brown color ale with a large off-white foamy head with good retention with some lacing. Aroma of sweet Belgian style malt with light caramelization and some spices notes. Taste is also a mix of sweet Belgian malt notes with caramelization and with some spiced notes for a semi-sweet finish. Body is about average for style with good carbonation and light warming alcohol notes. Enjoyable Belgian ale with a good mix of spices.

750mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a large beige head. Aroma has a nice spicy yeast expression, some licorice, light phenolic notes, some earthy bread crust. Flavour has notes of licorice, nice spicy yeast profile that features a touch of clove, and pleasant phenolic notes. Fairly dry, with lots of clove, licorice, and general Belgian yeast spiciness. Excellent as usual.

Poured from 750mL bottle. Dark brown with full beige head. Lots of Belgian Unibroue yeast with some light spices - licorice, hint of nutmeg. Decent.

It's been a few years since I picked up one of these. Still 6 bucks. Trader Joe's aren't down in my hood. Pour is a murky brown with a large tan head. Aroma is dark candi sugar with some dark fruit. Flavor is dark fruit, candi sugar, allspice and molasses. Finish has some alcohol warmth with cherry juice. Still tasty after all these years.

Capped 750 from Trader Joe's in Davis, CA. Poured into a Kasteel goblet. Pours very dark brown with a substantial creamy beige/tan head that persisted. Aroma is somewhat spicy with a yeast/banana aspect. Med body or so. Feels a bit creamy. Nice malt that seems a bit Tmavy. Light spice like cardamom. Maybe a touch of cinnamon. Light yeast/banana. Not dry, but not really sweet. Moderately bitter. The flavor is excellent. A desert island beer. It is so great some variant comes out each year.

Pours dark mahogany into a trappist glass. Tan head with good retention recedes to mottle surface. Spiced date and fig aromas. Soft with sweet fig and prune front to back. Lasting warm date bread finish.
