This is a tasty time-traveling tribute to an all time iconic beer style - the India Pale Ale. Though the style goes 200 years back this time around we re-created a 1985 style IPA - perhaps you remember the hip hop times. Enjoy a full on hoppy beer infused with everything you loved about the 80’s. The future is now.

Can, 0.355l. Clear golden amber color with thin soapy off-white head and soft visible carbonation. Aroma is grainy, grassy, papery and metallic. Taste starts with medium sweet caramel, following is grainy and grassy, mouthfeel is dry, astringent and mild spicy, while finish is heavy bitter. Medium body, oily texture and average carbonation in palate. Pleasant RIPA...

Can @ home. Clear somewhat orange golden color, medium sized off-white head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is a bit disappointing. Moderately hoppy, a tad sweet but overall a bit bland. Taste malts, hops, mainly bitter hops. Don’t get much else. Decent body and carbonation, decent beer.

Can at Brauhaus. Hazy amber body with a thick white head. Low carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of apricot, marmalade and straw. Flavour of blood orange, apricot jam, brown bread and a whisper of hook spice. Medium body with a frothy mouthfeel. Light fizz. Rich and hoppy. Much better than previous ratings suggest.

Retro probably due to its absence of fruity hops. Instead there’s a more rounded bitter hop flavour. Reminds me of a British pale bitter.

Can. Cotteridge. Hazy orange. Film and ring of white head. Nose has candied orange. Stewed hop. Dried, aromatic herb. Sweaty grain. Smells like a year old IPA. Taste is full on, chewy, pithy bitter. A little harsh, and it doesn’t let up much. Dries out somewhat, without a hint of sweetness. Medium body. Firm fizz. Long, harsh bitter finish, that dries out on the close. I get the retro thing, but it’s not for me, this.

From a 355ml can on 17/8/2016. Pours a clear light to medium golden with a small to medium head. The nose is quite herbal, with some light fruity hoppiness. The flavour is big, bold and bitter, but not with typical IPA characteristics. The malt is bready, and the bitterness is again herbal, very dry, and bordering on astringent. with some fruity sweetness setting things off. Has a medium to full body with average carbonation. It’s an interesting and unusual IPA, but has a few too many rough edges to really impress.
