11th beer of the St Albans bus replacement crawl. The look of the beer is more copper than amber. Aroma is fruity, berry and malty. Nice bitter finish.

29/9/2023. Cask at The Lord Nelson, Ipswich. Pours ultra clear bright copper amber with a small frothy off-white head. Great looking beer. Aroma is malty, toffee, biscuit, fruity, bready, berries, yeast. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Medium to full body, smooth, soft carbonation. Good example of a strong English Ale.

29th May 2008. Clear dark brown ale. Immediate spirity maltiness. Brandy/porty tones. Feels stronger than it’s abv. Dry finish. Very tasty.

Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, dark berry, notes of wood and toffee. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. (190108)

Cask at The National Winter Ales Festival, Manchester 18-01-07 Pours a hazy dark amber colour with a fruity and toffee aroma. Malts come to the fore, along with a surprisingly forceful bitterness, I found this to be just a bit too muddled though and having finished it have to confess to be just a bit disappointed.

Cask at GBBF 2006. Mahogany with thin beige head. Nice hop and sweet malt aroma. Malts are sweet and juicy. Hop is there to balance. Fine, quite nice strong bitter
