One last rating for the past from my backlog. Poured a slightly darker brown color, topped with a medium small off-white head. Mild caramel and bready aromas go hand in hand with wheaty, banana notes. Sweet, wheaty with some caramel and roasty presence. A bit light but nicely drinkable.

I had what was referred to as Stiegl Dunkel on tap at the Hohensalzburg, Salzburg, Austria Sunday 3rd June 2012, I hope that I have added this in the correct place. Good clarity with reddy/brown colour and a light beige head. Little nutty and plenty of caramel but little else going for it. Nothing wrong with it just a touch boring. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Mittellanger malziger Abgang, minimale Kaffeenote. Test vom 24.7.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 13,11,12,11,11,11 - 11,35

Bottle. Banana, orange, peach, clove, and caramel malt aroma - very nice. Cloudy cola brown color with big head. Strong clove and caramel malt flavor with banana and orange notes. Finishes a tad bit light. Still a very nice dunkelweizen.

50 cL bottle. Pours hazy dark brown with a tan, short lived head. Aroma is roasted and distinct estery fruity. Fruity, mild acidic and roasted malt flavoured. Very fruity flavoured into the finish alongside a distinct acidic note. Lingering roasted malt note too.

0.5 l bottle my mum brought from Linz, thanks. It poured a murky coffee brown body with bigger brownish head. Very nice yeasty bubblegum aroma, with banana and caramel being also obvious. Flavor was not so good, caramel or sweeter chocolate based with estery weizen things, fine for sure but simple and weak, although not so thin bodied. Shorter, sweetish malty and yeasty finish. Some components should be a bit more tasty here, otherwise good.

0.5l bottle courtesy of and shared with heavy whose mother brought it from Austria (thanks!) Poured a murky brown colour with a big thick off white/beige head. Strong banana yoghurt nose with a touch of cloves, quite nice actually. Unfortunately, the taste isn’t as good. It’s pleasant and drinkable, with notes of cloves, weak banana, and some tiny notes of chocolate showing up for a moment, slightly acidic and some chewed up bubblegum near the end. The body is kinda thick yet the taste is too shy, thin.

Bottle. Unclear mediun amber color with a large, creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, wheat, moderate buttery. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average to long duration. Body is light to medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. (301007)

(50 cl bottle, gift from a friend brought back from Austria) Overall a very nice example of a Dunkelweizen! Shady brown color, big cream colored head. Banana, yeast and spicy scent, classic! Spritzy banana and metallic taste, also a bit malty. Spritzy high co2 mouthfeel, low bitterness.
