This is an old style traditional strong bitter which is smooth, malty & full bodied. The name is a Norfolk colloquialism meaning a bit wonky or not quite straight. Objects may appear this way after a few pints! Voted Norfolk CAMRA Best Strong Bitter 2009.

22/11/2020. Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours dark amber/brown with a frothy off-white head. Aroma is malty, toffee, fruity, touch of cooking chocolate, biscuit, sweet brown bread. Medium sweetness and moderate bitterness with a slight hint of tartness. Medium body, quite fizzy though calmed down. Bittersweet finish. Definitely improved, but quite an aptly named beer.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Appearance - dark brown to black with red chinks. Nice off white head. Nose - creamy chocolate and toffee. Taste - burnt malt and sugar. Burnt toast. Palate - close to medium bodied with a crunchy texture and a long dry crunchy finish. Overall - the taste didn’t match the nose bit good.

Bottle from Branthill Farm Real Ale Shop, Wells next the Sea, Norfolk. Clear, chestnut brown. No head. Woody, toffee, maltiness. A hint of bonfire toffee, maybe. Taste is fruity and dry. Brown sugar, then a woody bitterness on the finish. Good stuff.
