Very dark ruby ale brewed using 6 different malts including chocolate malts, black malts and roasted barley. Generously hopped with a mix of Columbus, Cascade, Galaxy and Green Bullet. Flavours reminiscent of bitter chocolate, fruitcake and raisins, with beautiful aromas of dark chocolate, coffee and burnt toast. A beast of a brew!

Rated at Himmeriget. Roasty, dry and ashy with some hints of coffee, pine, citrus, fruits and herbal hops. A bit unbalanced

Can ordered from A Hoppy Place, Windsor. Aroma has tangy berries to the fore. Underlying coffee and malts. Waxy darkest brown. Foamy beige head. Medium-heavy bitter. Resin and espresso. Tangy berry edge throughout. Herbal element into the finish. Light-medium bodied. Slick verging on creamy. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long slightly astringent finish. Flavoursome BIPA.

On tap at Craft Beer Oasis, Crewe. For a start this beer isn’t black - not even close ! It pours a dark reddish-brown with minimal off-white head and good lacing. There’s roast malts in the aroma plus some hints of chocolate. By contrast in the mouth the initial sensation is hops, along with cola, dandelion and burdock and dark fruits. Later coffee and liquorice start to show through, and all the times there is an under current of alcoholic strength. Finish is slightly dry - and rather boozy ! The is decent – it grows on you.

Keg at Wishful Drinking, Rickmansworth, Herts. A black coloured pour with a healthy beige head on top. Hoppy, roasty, malty, chocolate aroma and taste. Quite bitter and burnt, decent effort.

Black with creamy head. Nice flavour with dark roasted malts. Green, slightly resinous hoppiness with a bittersweet roasted aftertaste too.
