Cask half pint at the Whitesmiths Arms (an Arkells pub), Gloucester. Deep golden to copper colour, low head. Malty aroma and flavour, a little tingling fruit in the finish. Not very bitter.

Cask @ The Castle, Bedford. Dark gold/copper with a smallish but lively head for a cask ale. Sulphurous aroma which fades to light herby and biscuit note with a hint of soft fruit. Taste is full and sweet with a bitter finish. I find the aftertaste somewhat acrid. An interesting ale, well-made but a bit unbalanced. Won’t be to everyone’s taste.

Cask (White Hart, Whutchurch) - Amber in colour. Apricot and biscuity malt in the aroma. Apricot and biscuity malt also feature in the taste along with some pleasantly hoppy notes.

Cask at Moon Under Water (JDW) on 19 June. Poured a very unattractive, cloudy amber. No aroma to speak of very little flavour followed by some unpleasant bitter notes on the palate. I don’t doubt that this was not in good condition, but I get the impression that it wouldn’t have been might much better if it had been perfectly served.

Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. An average, and rather, boring brown bitter. Copper with a foaming white head; basic, malty aroma; sweet malty taste with a few nuts thrown in; and a biscuity finish.
