Cask-GBBF. Black with a tiny light brown head. Roast aroma, some chocolate and licorice. Roast flavour with the right London-porter charcoal note, but rather thin.

Cask gravity at GBBF 2007. Black, virtually no head. Yes itβs got choc, but itβs a fairly unremarkable USA porter. Lacks intensity, except on a tingly finish. Not great.

Cask GBBF ... Black but not solid ... sweet malt little hop nose ... watery for a stout ... rich caramel malts ... soft and gentle.

The label on this bottle actually reads βbottledβ just in case I was confused about what I was about to drink from. Hmm. It pours deep clear chestnut and has a thin tan head. The aroma is semi sweet roasted malts with a faint, very faint, burnt maltiness. Much like the aroma the taste seems semi sweet roasted malts to a hint of sweet molasses. A faint burnt malt note tries to cut into the sweeter notes and becomes a rather softened burntness. So that standard Porter flavor of burnt Black Patent type malts comes up somewhat short. It does try to make a feeble attempt to re-surface in the after taste but seems to be a faint echo of what could have been.

Hey porter! Hey porter! Born on 11/14/06 Black hook Red hook porter. Canβt wait, just tasted a pretty crappy beer and I need to get my spirits up. Brown 12 oz bottle, pours really dark into my new coach steeler stein. The aroma has slight hints of coffee and roastyness in there, but just barely, nothing outstanding. The taste is initially a little bitter and there is no head, just a little froth on the top. Dark roasty flavors but not terribly offensive. Is than a roasting maltness I detect? Taste after taste the bitterness begins to slowly build. Decent creamy carbonation on the taste buds back there in my throat. A very interesting kind of dark beer. Enjoyable, but any beer is enjoyable. My uvula is having some thoughts of a medium bitterness that is hanging on and lingering.

Bottle, bottled 9/26/06. Black pour with cream head. Coffee and porter aromas, a little weaker than I expected in the flavor department, but adaquate. There certainly are better porters out there, but this one hit the spot.

A dark brown beer with a red shine, with a beige colored head, looking something like rising bread. The aroma is sweet with strong fruit notes as well as notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet malty with a light roasted note, that gives the beer a dryness which mixes in with notes of chocolate. I find it very light for a Porter (though not out of style), so Iβm a bit disappointed in it taking the style and brewery into account.
I had Redhook Nitrogen Porter, I think at R.F.D. in DC - I guess it is the same beer just on nitro. I gave it one less in appearance and one less overall - and only deviation in my notes is a comparison to Guinness.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a dark mahogany with a reddish glow. Small, off-white head. Aroma of hard roasted malt. Medium-bodied with loads of hard roasted malt and some lightly burned accents. Vague bitter finish from the malt. 170406

Smooth taste with roasted malts, some caramels, hints of chocolate, and a light amount of hops. Simple, but a solid porter.

Dark brown color. Simple beer with an amount of caramel and roasted malt, but nothing special; quite dry.
