The triple choclate stout is a unique interpretation of the style, combining three different chocolate malts, cacao nibs and 63 percent semi-sweet chocolate, making it a sinfully delicious brew. The addition of blackstrap molasses produces an earthy, caramelized tone in an already complex flavor profile. It's creamy, milkshake-like mouthfeel earns this beer the distinction of being dessert in glass.

Sampled at From The Vine beer tasting Oct 19th, 2007: Pours jet black with a medium thick tan head that does not have a lot of legs. Spotty lacing. Aroma of sweet milk chocolate and roasted malt, along with touches of coffee. Medium-bodied and creamy smooth with dark chocolate/mocha flavor with a little touch fo hops. The finish is chocolatety with a relatively short finish. Overall this beer really leans toward the chocolate side as the name implies, unfortunately to its detriment. Were this beer a little more rounded it would be a lot better.

bottle - Pours very dark brown with a small head. The aroma is dark chocolate and roast malt. It’s sweet to the taste and chocolate continues to be the dominant theme here. With a name like Cocoa Loco, that’s not exactly a shock. Medium bodied and finishing with some light bitterness, this is a good quaff.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a tan head. The aroma is sweet malty and very roasted, combined with notes of chocolate, and a light acidity from the hard roasted malt. The flavor is sweet malty with tons of chocolate - a very dark and bitter chocolate, but also strong notes of roasted malt, and lighter notes of hops. The finish is very dry, roasted, and bitter.

Bottle at Chris_o Shindig. Black, lasting tan head. Lovely aroma of cocoa choc. Decent hop. Molasses, wood, bit lactic even. Sweetish. It’s got good choc, bit one dimensional, strong hop unbalances it. 3.2/5.0 Re-rate 2006 Bottle at Chris_o pre GBBF Shindig 08. Aroma of choc and molasses. Good choc. Lacks a bit of fullness in mouth. Simple but nice.

Bottle: Dark brown pour with a medium tan head. Nose is full of coffee, mocha, and roast tones. Flavor is bittersweet chocolate with coffee, definitely a mocha element. Roasted tones blend well with the cocoa. Thanks to whomever cracked this open for poker night.

22 oz. bottle, 2006 batch. I’ve had this in a hot car for a week, so I’m being a tad kinder. Pours nice and black. My shaker glass seems to kick up big heads of foam, this one settled to a thin creamy brown head. Smell of chocolate milk. Taste starts lactic and sweet. Cocoa notes are subdued; there’s a slight tinge of cigar tobacco and sour cherry (that may be from the hot car trip) and even a little vanilla. Alcohol in the background, but goes down pretty well. Leaves stickiness on the lips.
