HPA is an easy-going real ale that brings people together. Our brewers have let locally grown Target and Celeia hops hang out with Maris Otter pale malt to give this understated brew its pale straw colour, citrus hop aroma and a balanced bitter finish.

The first pint in a mini dinner-time session at the excellent ‘White Hart’ in Shifnal, Shropshire (Aug 2011). Hand pulled into a UK pint sleeve glass. Very pale indeed, thin yellow looking, with a good pure white head on top. Some lacing given off as the well carbonated beer sank down my glass. Mildly fruity in aroma, some hop citrusy notes too. The flavour is more hop than malt, getting more hoppy as the taste buds got used to the beer. Wheat is also used in the brew, but I couldn’t detect any. It looks thin, but it has a good refreshing feel to it and the 4% ABV sits well. It’s very popular around these parts and is a good session beer for lunch-time throwing.

500ml bottle. Pours a light gold with a thin non-lasting head. Aroma is not there, just some pale malt somewhere and slight grapefruit. Taste is similar, some tropical fruit to start. Like a nondescript lager. Watery.
