Brewed in small batches and matured in the brewery cellar, like a fine wine. Made from high quality English malted barley, Kent Goldings hops are added for bitterness and aroma and Bramling Cross to further enhance the character, resulting in deep, rich and complex flavours of sultanas, orange peel and plums. Enjoy as you would a fortified wine, in a wine glass or a brandy balloon, to concentrate its wonderful aroma.

Dark brown, bit hazy, reddish hue, small beige non lasting head. Aroma is very sweet caramel, raisins and tart fruit with some funkiness and wine notes. Taste is medium to strong sweet caramel, fruits, raisins, tart, winey, bit bready, some phenolics, low to medium peppery bitterness, dry finish, some alcohol. Medium+ bodied, sticky syrupy, soft- carbonation. I believe there’s something off with the bottle as this is not very enjoyable.

Gravity Dispense at Wandsworth Common Halloween Beer Festival 2012 - 25/10/12. Opaque dark mahogony brown with a thin off white head which soon clears to nothing! Caramel nose, light chocolate, dark fruits, hop tones. Taste follows on, fruity, rich & complex. Fuller end of medium in body with fine carbonation. Well brewed and complex barley wine.

Schwerer Beginn, süßlich, merkwürdig leer. Hell malzig, süß-alkoholisch, trocken bitter. Etwas Honig – weiterhin ist das Bier aber zu schwach. Getreidige Noten im Abgang. Naja... /8/7/7/9/7

Slightly frothy beer. Thick and somewhat bitter malt. Some brandy notes in the finish. A bit of an effort to drink.

Cask at the ’Grape and Grain’ beer festival, Crystal Palace. Copper coloured pour with a white head. Caramel, figs, brown sugar and some dried fruit. Alcohol aromas ooze out of this one. Rich treacle toffee taste with a splash of dates, vanilla, caramel, cinnamon and toffee. Good vinous quality. Soothing alcohol burn. Warm, sweet finish.

Gravicask from The Brewery Bar at GBBF 09. Dark tan coloured body with a small, off-white head. Plums and raisin in aroma with a alcoholic tingle. Lots of dried and dark fruits added by dark berries with a underlying caramel and liquorice taste from the malts. Vinous palate with a decent alcohol punch. Full bodied. Good stuff. A bottle of this one on a dark winter night would have been even greater (Earls Court, 07.08.2009)
