Small offwhite head quickly disappears. Hazy chestnut brown body. Acidic alcohol and caramel aroma with notes of raspberry. Taste is milky acidic wild berries with notes of water and something reminiscent of stomach acid. Very unusual, very interesting, and definitely drinkable. Not a typical sahti, even if it has some of the special sahti characteristics. (0.33l bottle.)

Bottle, 7%, as Puhti Olut IV B. Sweet and peppery juniper aroma. Clear brown colour, very small light brown head. Low carbonation, just enough. Very caramelly flavour and aftertaste. Sweet, malty and semi-nice.

Am Anfang ist das Bier recht süß, wird aber schnell unangenehm sauer, das man das Gesicht verzieht. Furchtbares Zeug, ist das vergammelt?? Test vom 1.10.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 3,4,2,1,5,2 - 2,40

Bottle 0,33l. Dark red-brown. A pretty tanned head. A sourish, sweet aroma. "A spicy brown ale". Probably best to be enjoyed as a dessert.

Reddish dark colour. Beige head. Sweet malty aroma. Tastes like a spicy and sweet brown ale. Powerful with a slightly bitter finish. Perhaps a bit too sweet. (Two bottles from Alko in Finland sampled together with Finn and Catweazle 11.04.2006).

Bottle from Juha! Shared with everyone at the 4/17/05 Montreal tasting. Pours a light brownish-orange color, small off-white head that is well-retained. Seems filtered at the bottom of the bottle. Aroma of a bit of caramel, dry yeast, some earthiness, not really getting juniper, but there is some dry woodiness. Begins quite malty, full of caramel and toffee, a bit of coffee beans and some aggressive rye that I actually can taste (as opposed to most rye beers where it just adds a dry astringency). Lightly warming alcohol, bit of diacetyl and cream. Gets a touch sour on the very end, but nothing too bad. Some vegetal nature, more earth and light coffee. Very different for me. Medium to medium-full body, low carbonation. Smooth, almost chalky mouthfeel.

Bottle, very gracious thanks to Heemer77. Man this guy delivered a bunch of great shit. Little to no head, deep golden, burnished copper, but no where near as much sediment as the regular sahti. Fleeting white head. Aroma of bitter plants, some white vinegar and honey. Flavor starts out with just yeast, honey and water. Gets a bit of sourness and ends with a herbal, almost hoplike bitterness. Mixed with some ale yeast and a touch of sweet malt, this stuff is pretty good and well worth trying in comparison to the lammin sahti. Though, I dont think it compares. Keep it traditional.

(Bottle 33 cl) Is this "Sahti"? Well, it seems to come from a Sahti brewery. Amber coloured, quite flat, absolutely no head. Very fruity and fresh on the nose - almost sodapop-like. Quite sweet and bitter with a somewhat candy-like body in between. It might sound unpleasant but is quite the contrary. Very unusual. 160405

Deep copper ale with no head, no real carbonation at all - musty, herbal aroma, with touches of caramel and yeast - spicy, grassy and grainy, with just a hint of sweetness - slight hints of caramel and brown sugar at the back end - finishes with some spice and earthiness - many qualities of this beer are strikingly similar to DFH Raison d’Etre, which isn’t a bad thing at all.

Bottle. Rusty brown no head at all. Aroma of bread with hints of juniper berries. Soft and smooth palate. Flavour of juniper berries and a bit alcohol with hints of bread. No aftertaste to talk about. Wellbalanced taste.
