Clear deep brown - red beer. Medium crisp palate. Spiced Xmas beer. Smooth chocolatey malt. The spicing is quite subtle. Maybe a pinch of cinnamon and ginger? Lively carbonated bite in the finish. Nicely joined up but just a little cloying.

bottle from Vinoble-favrskov clear nutty brown, smooth yellow head with large bubbles in it whoa! Spicy aroma alert. aroma is quite spiced, ginger, citrussy spices, brown cookie spices, also malts, caramel. Even though it is pretty spiced up, the aroma is fine, christmas bock allright. flavor is malty, bitter malty, caramelly, nutty, spiced bitter, faint bitter brown cookies, sweet honey cookie like flavor. In fact the beer tastes quite a lot like those brown cookies with a honey layer in them.

A reddish brown bock with a thick moka head. An intense fruity and molassey aroma, with a bit of treacle, musty, a bit of oxidation. In mouth, a lighter body than expected, with light sweet malt, licorice notes, a bit of molassses, ashes and warming alcohol. Medium bodied. Tasted Nov. 5 2009 with GRM and Mike H.

Bottle from Liquid Solutions. Pours dark brown with a two finger tan/beige head. Rich warm malty aroma. Something like Belgian kandi. Medium body with frothy carbonation. Flavor is smooth dark malt with (having glanced at badgerben’s rate) I cannot separate from soy sauce. This is not a bad thing. There are some hints of xmas spice. Maybe there is just a lot of medium dark fruit like fig or date. Not quite raisin. It’s really very good. I’d say it’s way underrated. Finishes mildly sweet, and reasonably balanced.

Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma has lots of caramel and chocolate. Flavor starts out with some dark fruit then the caramel malts hit you. Finish is thick but it leaves a nice brown sugar on the tounge. A very decent bock to have on a cold night.

Draught at the brewpub in Aalborg
Dark amber to red-brown color. Light caramel aroma, with a sweet touch of spices, almost herbal, minty. Caramel flavor with clear spicy character (cinnamon and star anis overall). Correct bitterness, with medium dark caramel in the end. Very typical Nordic Jule Øl.
