Vasstrond'e is crafted in collaboration with Ivar A. Geithung, who resides on the Selland farm in Vasstrondi, near Voss in Western Norway. Barley and oats are mashed in juniper and alderwood-infused water, then boiled for hours in an antique copper kettle with local hops. Finally, it's fermented using the original Selland kveik-yeast culture. All the ingredients used are 100% Norwegian.

440ml can, #198, bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Off-white head remaining over an unclear orange-brown body, dotted spots on the glass. Prominent aromas of spiced berries, farmyard, and forest. Very special, unique taste of forest, salted caramel, herbs, and kveik yeast. Slightly smoked, lingering finish with juniper. Not easy to drink, but full of interesting flavours. Enjoyed for an hour on a Friday eve. (Tromsø, 25.07.2025).

Can at home. Pours hazy dark amber with off-white head. Aroma of malt (cookies), juniper, smoke, oranges, liquorice, ethanol. Taste has some umami. Tastes slightly sweet with balancing bitterness. Medium bodied, alcoholic warmth, dry finish. An impressive beer!

Can @ home. Dirty, deep golden, almost brown body under a fast-disappearing tan head. Complex aroma of malt, kveik, juniper, ripe plum, ham and forest. Taste is balanced sweet malt, distinct kveik, some kid of ripe fruit, dough, hint of juniper, umami, damp forest and moderate bitterness. 10% alcohol is extremely well hidden. Fine, balanced body with long lasting aftertaste. Maybe not a beer for everyone this, but the open-minded beer drinker will defectively find this very interesting. It’s really complex and it grows on me for every sip. Should not be judged based on a micro ticker sip, this is a part of the Norwegian beer history and should be threated with some respect an at least open mind.
