Courtesy of Papsø; thanks for passing me a Hefeweizen after having spent two weeks in Germany and having plans to work there for the year to come!

It pours a muddy orange-golden color, with a thin head and turbulent perlage. The aroma shows a suspicious, light sourness, and quite a lot of yeast. The body is weak (probably not stored in good conditions, the yeast completed its action), with a very strong yeast flavor; very light fruity touch. The total absence of sugars enhance the bitterness in the end, that would otherwise go unnoticed. Off.

Had this on the return leg of the DFDS ferry ’Dana Sirena’ Esbjerg - Harwich 22-09-08 (the end of a wonderful holiday) Pours hazy light amber with sweet wheatiness, soft in the mouth. Sweeter and a little less refreshing than some wheat’s I’ve had but as I’m not a big fan of wheat’s this I consider an interesting diversion on the style. Some chewiness even a little light caramel its quite a nice beer.

aroma : nice wheaty grainy with some citrus. slight peachy notes too. cloudy yellow, white head. flavor is cardboardpeachy, watermelon, no bitterness as such, but some kind of cardboard-paint-bitterness in the end. palate is too watery, and it is amplified by the watery flavor.

50 cL bottle. Pours hazy orange with a little, crispy white head. Aroma is wheat, malt and orange/citrus. Flavour is wheaty with a distinct orange blend, has a distinct german hefe taste to it. Dry finish. Spot on to the style and a clean taste (1 month after BBD).
