This well-balanced amber-coloured bitter is quite malty and sweet and was named during the filming of Mel Gibson's film of the same name about the life of William Wallace.

Bottled 500ml. -3pack from the brewery (Braveheart, Atholl and Old Remedial). Darker golden coloured, medium sized off-white head, slightly acidic nose. Sweetish malty, light caramel, touch of apples and sharp acidity in the finish. Unfortunately all three beers were infected more or less.

Bottle shared on Level 42. It pours golden - amber with a medium white head. The aroma is toasted grain, rich tea biscuit, cereal, bread and hay. The taste is crisp, dry, fresh bitterness, lemon peel, grapefruit, biscuit, hay, bread, grass and pepper with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Tastes mighty fresh. Pretty ok for an old school bitter.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Paul. Pours clear gold with a creamy white topping. The nose holds light citric hops, grainy pale malts, faint leaves. Light sweet flavour with plenty of dry bread, light dough, melon, orange rind. Light bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with light astringency, more grainy malts, leaves, faint cereal. So so.
