Bottle. Bought whilst on holiday in Cornwall. Poured golden amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, citrus fruit, malt, hops and flowers. Medium sweetness, light bitterness. Moderate body, slight watery texture, soft carbonation. Ok.

Jan 2009: Clear 500ml bottle, poured into a UK pint glass (normal straight sleeve). True amber colour, clear and bright with a good cream coloured head. Caramel and vanilla aroma, a lot sweeter than most UK Pale Ales. The sweetness doesn’t follow into the taste a great deal, but it isn’t a bitter taste, it has a hoppy bite and the malted Barley also comes to the fore as the beer warms. Clean mouthfeel rather than a rich, heavy, creamy texture. The 4.5% is evident but blends well into the well balanced beer. I don’t like bottles of UK Ale to state ’Served Chilled’. I did because they asked me too, but a proper UK Ale should come to the table at about 50-52F degrees.

@ Eden Project. Dull brown. The aroma is kind of gingery. The taste is sweetish, mostly caramelly. Fairly simple, nondescript brew.

50 cl clear bottle at YNWA. Pours clear and golden orange with a small, light orange coloured and creamy head. Mild spiced, ash/tobacco hops aroma. Sweet caramel, mild, for base with a light fruity hops note on top. Rather subdued on the tobacco hops notes in the flavour compared to the aroma. Medium dry and bitter finish.

Cask at The Rising Sun on Tottenham Court. Bright amber color with an off-white head. Flavor is grassy fruit over slight caramel. Goes fruity in the finish, with some floral bitter. Works well after We Will Rock You.

[bottled version] Not quite as good as Sharp’s Doom Bar, admittedly (but there not a lot that is). I was a bit scared off it as it all sounded a bit of a marketing ploy ie putting the Eden Project name and picture on an organic beer to shift more units. However, Eden turned out to be a wonderfully light, refreshing beer - drink it in a beer garden with sandwiches and salad on a warm Spring lunchtime and you’ll be very happy!
