(Bottle, vintage 2018) Reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with dark bread, raisins, figs, plums, oak wood, whiskey and chocolate. Malty taste with notes of caramel, chocolate, dark bread, raisins, prunes, oak wood, whiskey and a mild spicy bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and well balanced, with a good oak character. Nice one.

Bottled (from Systembolaget Umeå). Ruby red colour, small off-white head. Aroma is plum, figs, alcohol, some toffee and mild rye to it. Flavour is plum, figs, some mild wood, a bit syrupy tones wih some rye and mild toasted notes too. Quite watery when fridge cold, but gets thicker when it gets more close to room temperature.

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Deepest ruby, mid sized head. Aroma of milk chocolate and oaky whisky. Sweet with medium body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Low carbonation. Instant chocolate and whisky. Simplistic, but not unpleasant.

Bottled 750ml (Systembolaget)
Dark ruby colour, small beige head. Light vanilla and whiskey in the nose. Light-bodied. Light on malts, some toffee, vanilla and wood in the flavour. Not much going on in this beer.

Tap at Hair of the Dog, Phloen Chit. Poured a murky dark brown colour with a mostly lasting frothy off white head. The aroma is malt, toffee, caramel, light alcohol. The flavour is moderate sweet, light bitter, with a smooth, rich, slightly oily, mineral, light alcoholic bitter palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

750ml bottle at home in a tulip glass. Pours a mahogany red with a very small off white head that dissipates quickly. Nose is surprisingly thin, caramel, vanilla, milk chocolate, pears. Taste is also surprisingly thin and watery oak, burnt sugar, custard, small bit of booze. Was hoping for a complex malt bomb that hits all the marks of a vanilla and oak Scottish Ale, this felt like there was a good beer in its core but watered down.

On tap at Ballast Point - Miramar, pours a deep dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out whiskey barrels upfront, with caramel and toffee. Flavour is along the same lines, with whiskey barrels, caramel and toffee. Caramel, scotch whiskey finish. Solid.
