Lily Flagg Milk Stout is named for Huntsville’s most famous quadruped. A prize cow owned by local plantation owner Samuel B. Moore, Lily Flagg was honored as one of the world’s best butterfat producers in 1892 at an exposition in Chicago. This dark, rich beer contains tons of roasted malt goodness, hints of chocolate and coffee and a creamy mouth feel from the addition of milk sugars during the brewing process.

Can from Antarabangsa, Penang. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a mostly lasting frothy light tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, lactose, light chocolate, liqouirce. The flavour is moderate to light sweet, light liquorice bitter, with a roasty, creamy lactose, liqouirce, light dry coffee charcoal palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

12 oz. can. Pours an opaque black color with faint mahogany highlights. Thick tan head with very good retention. Decent lacing. Dark malt, dark cocoa and milk aroma. Flavor is dominated by deep roasted barley, with a nice smooth mellow finish, thanks to the milk. Heavy enough mouthfeel yet easy drinking. Really good.

Can at home. The first Alabama brew I’ve spotted in Florida. Fine dark pour smaller he’s d. Nose is roasted malt some cocoa. Tastes of cola, cocoa, red fruit, malt, coffe grind some lactose milk. Semi bitter. Fruity aftertaste.

Pretty good milk stout, evenly split between moderately sweet chocolate notes and roasted malt, with a minor java streak on the back end mixed with anise and dark fruit. Finishes bittersweet with a mild dose of char on the fade. Not bad.

12oz can pours a watery brown with some cloudy, off white head. Nose has celery, stale bread, malt, a little dusty closet. Flavor has celery and green bell pepper. Watery finish. Odd.

Can at the main DC December gathering. Poured a dark brown color with a small off-white head. Aroma was chocolate, milk chocolate notes. Flavor was light roast, with some chocolate, bitter licorice finish. Pretty smooth and creamy. Tasty.
