Clear amber colour, medium sized dense beige-ish ecru head; aroma of toasted rye bread, toffee, some honeycomb toffee and slight dried fruits ; taste has basically the same notes as can be felt in the aroma ; surprisingly good beer

Deep amber coloured body with a lighter tan and deep golden coloured body showing a lingering two to three centimetre tall head. Aroma of grain, light malt, earth, nuts and a bit of astringent alcohol - not much else, but a good deal of malts. Light to Medium-bodied; Assertive nutty and grainy malt dominate up front with some lighter sugars and caramelised flavours showing some malt-centrice notes, but also a touch earthy and more bitter with the grainy and lightly hoppy and herbal sides coming together and giving some strength at the end. Aftertaste tends to have some stronger and deeper flavours wtih the grain and earthy flavours by far the strongest, but also the sweetness and lightly floral notes do come through towards the end. Overall, a relatively enjoyable beer that is definitely malt-centric, but a touch better than I expected it to be. I sampled this 350 mL can purchased a few minutes ago from World Liqour Mart (YaMaYa?) in Daimon, Tokyo, Japan for 288JPY sampled in my hotel room here in Tokyo, Japan on 05-August-2019.

Can from YaMaMa, Kyoto. Poured a hazy medium amber colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is malt, light toffee caramel, light fruit, light woody hop. The flavour is moderate to light bitter, light sweet, with a crisp, toffee malt, light hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation. Somewhat nice up front with the initial aroma and taste, which fell away in the finish where the beer was light and bland. It left no memorable flavours.

Bought a 330ml can at Takashimaya near Osaka Namba. Beautiful Amber color and long-lasting sea foam head. Flavor however is rather one dimensional, rather astringent/bitter with not enough malty flavors or residual sugar to balance it.

Found a can of this from a cheap supermarket in Yokohama. Pours cloudy amber, decent beige foam top, stays. Aroma is malty-hoppy, quite sturdy body for the abv. Some citrus hops coming out from the body, strong caramel, black bread roast. Nothing over the top, still a simple brew - but much better than I expected, quite a surprise actually.

Can from CBL 2017 but also spotted at SUVACO in Kyoto Station. Kizakura’s take on an American Pale Ale according to the label. Medium full body on an orange colored brew. This is an old school APA flavor profile, huge pine resin aroma and very bitter piney hop notes before you get a slightly slick malt sweetness. Not bad but what they should have brewed like 3-5 years ago.

Can from the brewery. Cool can. Malty caramel nose, some citrus and pine. A bit weird. Deep orange amber, medium, thick, fine head. Creamy, with lots of caramel, some vanilla, pine, bit of citrus, herb, butter. Toffee is rich. Pretty solid body, good carbonation. A bit old fashioned and more of an American brown than a pale ale. Rather bitter finish. Ok.
