After brewing this intense double IPA with more than 10 different hops and consistently delivering it faster than any bottled IPA on the planet, we decided to do something different with this Stone Enjoy By IPA—we took it to another level, again. Puréed tangerines were added to the batch to create a devastatingly fresh IPA with a tang of tangerine. The flavors yielded by this addition to the recipe meld beautifully with the bitterness of the hops. True to this series, Stone Enjoy By Tangerine IPA is brewed specifically NOT to last, and should be enjoyed within 37 days.

Although still very similar to our classic version of Stone Enjoy By IPA (it is the same recipe, after all), the tangerine adds a more intense citrus element to the beer. We first made this variation in 2015 as a very small batch and loved it so much that we had to find a date for it in 2016.

Draught from evening star. Clear deep orange. The exact right amount of fresh tangerine blending into malt.

bottle, old rating from late 2016, enjoy by 10.31.16 - Deep gold pour. It has an assertive citrus and floral hop heavy aroma. The flavor is crisp and bitter with loads of citrusy hops. The tangerines come through nicely. A solid malt backbone rounds out this excellent beer.

This brew is a hazy orange-gold color with a medium white head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Strings of lacing. Fruit, hops and malt aroma. Medium to full body with flavors of tangerine, wheat, floral hops and malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a tangerine and hops aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

12oz bottle via trade, enjoy by 10.31.2016, courtesy of Beercation, bottled 09.25.2016.

Crisp golden and lightly coppered coloured body with a hint of haze and a small, single centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of full oranges, grain, bright floral and citrusey (of course) hops, a bit of sugars and some dryness as well. Medium-bodied; Assertive orange and curacao flavours with some bright hops, a bit of malt and sweetness, but the tart citrus flavour dominates. Aftertaste shows more of the same with the oranges coming through the strongest, then a touch of lighter hops and hints of alcohol near the end, with the grassy dryness as well. Overall, a well-balanced Orange-based IPA that surprisingly shows well and doesn’t overdo in much of anything...a welcome change from Stone, although I’m sure there is something stupid screenprinted on the bottle about how great of a beer this was going to be. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Trader Joe’s in Clarendon (Arlington), Virginia on 19-October-2016 for US$2,67 sampled at home in Washington on 11-November-2016 with the ’Enjoy By’ Date on the front of the bottle at 31-October-2016.

Bottle from Whole Foods Columbus Circle, Manhattan, New York, USA. A golden/orange coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Hoppy, tangerine, marmalade aroma. Tastes pretty much the same, hoppy, tangerine, some tropical fruit, hint of marmalade, slightly sweet. Decent DIPA.

Sampled from a bomber. Enjoy by 10/31/2016, so it was a little overdue. Pours hazy orange, with a small, beige head. Strong tangerine aroma, butterscotch, and rosemary. Sweet and citrusy, with a strong, smooth bitterness. Medium body, acidic, sticky, and crisp. Seriously tasty beer. Very citrusy and fruity.
