End Point IPA gets its name from the ‘end point’ of chemical reactions, and was the love-child of a long succession of hop experiments. It mingles lager malts with pale ale malts as its starting point. This gives it a light golden colour and a sweet succulent body on which Admiral adds the herbal aromas, First Gold the floral and Herkules the pine, whilst the American hops leap and dance, with citrus the dominant theme. This is a modern take on the historic Burton IPA.

Cam given to me by a colleague. Floral citrus aroma. Some grass and resin. Copper gold. Frothy white head. Short-lived. Light-medium bitter. Citrus sour streak. Initially sweet but the sourness overpowers that. Light bodied. Slick but thin. Fizzy carbonation. Dry astringent finish. It's OK. Not particularly exciting but slips down easily enough.

Clear golden colour. Starts out with a nice hit of dry hops. Later it gets a bit weaker and cardboardy.

Can from Londis, Birchwood. Golden with an extremely thin head and a very light carbonation. Fuller-bodied but with a milder tasting pale ale taste and has lager malt notes in its nose. There's a mild fruitiness within the ale.

330ml can. Poured a hazy golden colour with a short-lived broken white head. The aroma is malt, grassy, floral citrus, mineral vanilla hop. The flavour is moderate bitter light sweet with a crisp, fresh, malt, sweet citrus fruit, light watery hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation.

33cl can from my local Londis (everyone's getting on the "craft beer" bandwagon it seems. A bright amber pour with a creamy white head; some piney notes on the aroma; sweet caramel malt body with some resinous hops; and a rather raw finish with a touch of spice. OK.

Can from Morrison's, the Gyle, Edinburgh. Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Aromas of light malt and faint citrus. Taste is light sweet, balanced rather than hoppy. Ok.
