A true rye beer with bold spice character and chewy body. Peppery Columbus, fruity Equinox and herbal Chinook make up the spicy bouquet of this beer. Ginger and pine notes linger reinforcing flavours from the malt backbone.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a hazy straw colour with a frothy white head. The aroma is grainy malt, grassy citrus hop. The flavour is moderate sweet with a dry citrus fruit, light dry hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle from Dogenzaka Shinanoya. They seem to be changing their import selection quite regularly, finding here something to pick up every time I visit (which is about once a month).Pours a bit darker orange, some beige foam on top, quite a lot of that - reducing into a thin layer relatively quickly. Nose is mainly malty, some citrus notes coming through. Taste is creamier and hoppier than I could have thought from relatively nondescript nose. Good balance, feels citric-juicy, close to IPA material. Getting also some spiciness from rye, citric bread IPA. Really? Yes, really.

Lively, hazy amber beer with a foamy white head. Bitter, slightly sour rye aroma. Flavour is initially a touch sweeter, fruity, slightly bready. The sourness does come into it and there’s a distinct rye ale taste to it. Sour and dry in the finish. Not too shabby.

Bottle from Beer Metropolis, Little Eaton, Derbyshire consumed at home Wednesday 21st December 2016 Great colour, light amber gold, good clarity with a white head. Nice streaky but silky hoppiness, a little citrus vein runs through this. There is a lot going on for a modestly strength beer. Like this a lot. A6 A5 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

Bottle at home, 12/12/16. Hazed golden amber with a well appointed off white head. Nose is orange peel, straw, bread dough, tangerine, melon, touch soapy. Taste comprises lightly smoked straw, rye bread, orange peel, toasted grains, faint pine flicker. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, earthy hop bitterness offered in the close. Adequate for style but not one I’d revisit.

Almost clear amber beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is airy, semi dry and has good fine carbonation. Fluffy malts, trace of creamy sweetness. Mellow rye spice. Nice candy fruits - Trebor Refreshers. Touch of bitterish citrus and then a light floral vibe. Lemon sherbet. Light finish. Nice sweet shop beer!
