Draft @ HoppyLoft.

Bottle - Dark bready notes and sweet molasses. Touch of herbal notes. Jet brown with a light brown head. Boozy dark malts, some herbal notes and bready notes. I don’t understand this beer or what it is suppose to be. Not great, but not bad, just confused.

Nice roastiness to complement the high abv, maybe slightly thin on the body for such a strong beer. The high bitterness lends to the overshadowing of the malt body I think. 2016 advent.

Dark brown. Not much head. The aroma shows some bubblegummy yeast, an odd dark sugar note. Has a sweet malt like a South American dark lager, has a bit of a harsh finish in terms of crackery malts, and sweet phenolic notes. An odd beer, a bit disjointed, maybe that pepper comes in. It’s a completely odd beer, but not entirely coming together - the dark saison thing almost never does, though.

330mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out dark candied sugar, saison yeast, and some dark toasted caramel. Flavour is similar, with dark candied and burnt sugar, earthy notes, and saison yeast. Earthy and dry, yet the burnt sugar is prominent. Not super deep or complex, but it works.

Batch 191. Thanks kajser! Shared with him, franski and ogivlado. Black, light off white head. Slightly tart chocolat, dark malts and big banana in the aroma. Light vinuous note. Sweet caramelly taste, vinuous notes. No juniper, no peppers, maybe vague vague heat that gets buried under everything else, but seriously. Just OK.
