Bottle at home, 8th June 25. Pours black and thick , aroma is peaty, liquor, iodine. Taste is bitter, liquor, peat and barrel, wood and some dark chocolate, dry and peaty, everything that is great about a barrel aged imperial stout

Panda thanks to Cloin. Near opaque dark brown beer, small but tidy bubbly pale tan head. Mild peat on the nose, not enticing for me. Smooth if slightly thin palate, good fine minerally carbonation. Thinnish but rich tasting dark malts, touches of cream, soft dark chocolate and mild espresso. It's all overwhelmed by spicy alcohol and a fair serving of what tastes like paint stripper and dirt. Peat whiskey near its worst here, for me anyway. Fairly light and crisp finish. The palate is weirdly light and crisp but the flavour is really not my thing. Don't think there is anything much wrong with this brew but it's showing a lot of what I hate about peated whiskey.

Bottle at home, from HOTM online, 07/04/2025.
Black topped with a khaki head that thins over time to edge work.
Nose is dark malts, roast, light smoke, molasses, toffee, chocolate, charr.
Taste comprises cacao nibs, dark malts, spice, charr, ashen nip, light medicinal tones, mellow Islay bite.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost.
Tidy BA impy stout ... the Islay barrel is balanced well.
