Steppe is a mixed fermentation barrel-aged saison produced from blending barrels ranging from 1 to 2 years of age. These barrels held lightly hopped saisons brewed with flaked and malted wheat. Many months in barrels with wild yeast lends complexity and acidity. We get notes of juicy nectarine, white grape, jasmine flowers, rustic wheat, and grapefruit zest.

12 oz draft. Aroma shows me lemon rind, subtle oak, mild yeast. Flavor is a direct reflection. Oak and tartness are subtle. A bolder juicer lemon character with a floral hint that comes in the finish. Very well rounded.

75cl. Almost clear gold. White head. Grist, lemon, mineral nose. Flinty. Straight forward. Grist. A little poop and yeast. Green grapes. Just off dry. Medium bodied.

750ml bottle. At the February DCBeer share. Poured a clear golden color, very light compared to other beers I've had this morning. Some stonefruit, grape, lemon. Grain. Barrel comes through on this a bit, with a funky white wine finish.

750mL bottle drunk 8/26/25.
Clear, bright brass-pineapple-bronze. Small, off-white head slowly to ring.
Mild Brett and moderate lactic character in the nose with pineapple and lemon and a healthy dose of oak. Fairly rich with lots of unripe stone fruit and citrus pith. Biscuity, rustic grains seem supportive.
Rich and malty with a soft, chewy wheat and oak tannin component. Lots of oak but it's not too buttery or acidic. Rich citrus and light tropical fruit with more fruit rind and a lingering juiciness. Pleasingly tart, a fair bit so, but I think it keeps itself from getting too acidic.
