(Cask at The Flying Horse, London, Oxford Street, as Black Sheep Pale Ale, 20191015) The beer poured amber and clear. Its head was small, white and it lasted long. Aroma had grass, earth and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were grass, earth, malts, toffee and bitterness. Aftertaste was so spicy, malty and bitter. A nice hoppy pale ale.

Cask at the Duck in the Pond, Harrow. Pale amber with no head. Sweet caramel, light fruitiness, and an earthy bitterness. Yer average house bitter really, although a little on the sweet side for my liking.

Hand-pulled cask pint in The Alleyn’s Head, SE 21, on 22nd Jan 2017. Bog standard UK Bitter, decent amber body with a full, lasting head, lacing too. Unassuming blend with equal amounts of hop and malt contents to give a balanced if uninspiring aroma and taste. Session ale with subtle to bland flavours.

Cask at The Easington, Banbury, Oxon, Tuesday 7th June 2016 Dark gold edging towards light amber with a slim white filmy head. Fairly standard bitter, takes me back drinking a beer liked this, so rarely do I get to drink these type of beers nowadays. Caramel, earthy English hops. It’s in good nick, it’s ok. Cask at the Woodmans Rest, Solihull. Poured a crystal clear medium amber with a long lasting frothy white head. The aroma is light malt, light hop. The flavour is light bitter with a light watery light hop bitter palate. Light bodied with soft carbonation. Too light all round and lacks defining flavours.
