Though Pabst Blue Ribbon has had a light version in the past, up thru 2024, we now announced Pabst Light, which is brewed from a new recipe. We developed a new, special recipe for Pabst Light using only premium ingredients. The El Dorado hops we use in the new recipe is rarely used in American Light beer, and they create a smooth, crisp, and refreshing taste. The grain is North American malted barley.
Blue Ribbon Light was brewed wth Cluster, Galena and Willamette hops. So, Pabst Light is not the same as PBR Light.
This new lager, has 96 calories, 3.5 grams of carbs and an ABV of 4.2 percent. That's about 48 calories less than Pabst Blue Ribbon, and about 17 fewer than Pabst Blue Ribbon Light, which has been discontinued.

16oz can, free from Woodman's. Vile, insipid stuff. The aroma is terrible, corn syrup, general factory nastiness. Sweet, corn flavor. Just all around a terrible product.

Golden yellow with small, short-lasting head. Corn, barley malt, and light grass aroma. Mildly sweet barley malt and very mildly bitter grass flavor. Light body. Decent for what it is - better than Michelob Ultra.

16 oz can to glass at The Peanut in Mission, Kansas. The pour is a clear golden, a touch on the paler side, with a foamy white head that falls quickly. The aroma is soft grain, malt sweetness and just a whisper of floral. The taste is the cereal grain malt, softly sweet, and a touch of earthiness. The palate is light bodied, active carbonation and a mostly clean sweetish finish. Easier drinking than most American Light beers, though still pretty bland.

16 oz can. Pours clear golden with a half finger white head that falls into a ring quickly. Aroma is corny, sweet malt. Taste is sweet with faint bitterness. Thin and watery. Maybe a hair more flavor than your typical bland light lager.

Pour is a crystal clear gold with a large white head. Aroma is beer. Bready generic malt. Flavor is a wee bit of grain and not much else. Very watery.

So I went out of my way to find this and got a whole 12er. I hope I like it, jk it'll be fine, at worst a lawnmower beer. On to the review: pale golden, crystal clear, rapidly fading but very full white head. It's really refreshing to see a beer that just looks like a beer these days. Nose is subtle hints of grain, very similar to regular Pabst (which is usually too grainy and corny for my tastes). Am I detecting some actual floral hop? Its very faint if it's there but I think it is. Flavor is more about the grainy malt profile, there's a decent but light bitterness at finish, but no appreciable hop flavors. Something feels missing but I can't quite put my finger on it, maybe just lacking a certain depth that gives it an almost watery element.

Can, so this is the 'new' Pabst Light? Pours a perfectly clear pale lager yellow. Nice big head fades fairly rapidly to about quarter inch. Lots of visible carbonation in there. Nose is a little bit of cream corn backed up by some fresh cut hay from Pennsylvania fields, hehehh. First big swig is friendly and easy, no real bitterness in here. Nicely bubbly on the palate. As a lager lover, I'm enjoying this stuff. Cold, it comes across somewhat refreshing. Even though I can't remember, I see on the original PBR light, I gave it about a 4.8 so I guess this is better to an extent. Finish is clean with no negative attributes. Not bad and hey, I got a 30 pack for 30 cents a can! Can't beat that !!! Especially if yer a macro lager drinker. Tho I can get Outlaw for about the same price.
