A warped version of Albino Squid Assassin, this super exclusive small batch beer sees us amp up the rye character to the max.
This red rye IPA has spent six months sequestered in rye whiskey barrels, drawing incredible toasty, spicy and oaky flavours from the wood.
The hops have softened and morphed from pithy citrus to ripe autumn fruit, while the malt base has picked up cinder toffee and cinnamon. An incredibly deep and complex IPA.

From tap at Oedipus International Beer Festival 2016. Aroma is malt, caramel, big oak, lots of vanilla, fruity hops, ripe fruits. Flavour is moderate bitter with a fairly dry finish. Body is medium to full. Nice barrel aging, good beer!

Bottled. Coppery brown colour with a mediumsized beige head. Aroma is whisky, some wood, caramel malts, alcohol and mild toffee. Flavour is toffee, some alcohol, mild bready notes with some sweet whisky/sherry like notes. A bit gluelike sweetness as it warms up.

Bottle from pre pandemic bought in Finland at Alko, drunk after attempting to bathe a toddler who seems not to enjoy the water yet. It's a bit expired, but shouldn't beers like this last forever? Let's see. Slightly hazy reddish brown with a thin head. Nose is bourbony, smooth rye, hints of brown sugar. The flavor is a warming mix that has a complex whisky, oak, and honey flavor but somehow isn't boozy. Smooth bitterness and woody notes at the end cleanse the palate from the sugar of the early sweetness. Yes, this beer is self cleaning. Really exceptional!

Huge thanks to Erzengel for sharing! Bottle looks good. Beer in the glass dark brown, small head. Malty caramel aroma. Starts fine malty, light alcoholic, herbal notes, caramel hints as well. Hoppy hints in the background with a mild bitterness. Finish well balanced, warming malty, light alcoholic. Interesting.

200ml draught at BrewDog BD57 Grünerløkka. Clear dark brown body, filmy layer, fair lacing. Mid-sweet caramel malty aroma, woody. Quite rich taste profile of chocolate caramel, bread and oak, lightly spiced with noticeable cinnamon. Smooth chocolate aftertaste. Does not taste that strong. Pleasant to drink. (Oslo 30.08.2020).

330mml. bottle as part of the "EFP Brewdog Advent Calendar. Day 16". @home. 18/12/2019.

Dark brown colour with a medium tan head. Good retention. Aroma is caramel, raisin and oak barrels. Taste is rye, sweet caramellized malts, toffee and dried fruits leading to an intense bourbon finish. Very good.
Next one please!

Smooth and soft beginning. Very dry, fruity caramel. Wood in the back. Hints of grain there, dry wood. Floral intense hops below the rye graininess. Wood now in the back, lots of earthy hop oils there. Interesting melange.
