In the true spirit of keeping things local, Hobsons have created a Plum Porter with a twist by using Shropshire Prune Damsons. The Shropshire Prune has been described as the essence of ’plum’ and is possibly the oldest known variety of damson in the UK. This porter delivers on provenance and intense flavour. a delicate balance of rich damson and roast malt sweetness.

Bottle: Deep amber coloured with a reddish sheen, small and stable off-white foamy layer, moderate sweetish toasty-roasty and fruity-plummy (indeed!) nose, mild bitterness underneath; mild sweetish-bitter flavour, more light than medium bodied, but quite soft; moderate fruity and sweetish toasty- malty finish with a delicate bitterness in the aftertaste. Not earth-shaking, but quite well drinkable...

Dark brown with a frothy to creamy white head that lingers. Aroma is quite fruity: mostly plum jam and Johannisbeeren. Taste is mildly bitter with increasing tartness at the finish. Body is the light side of medium, dry, smooth. Decent stuff.
