An old school bitter for the 21st century, Mister Squirrel is classy liquid. It is a balanced and respectable brew, with vintage notes of toffee, vanilla, and nuts. A beer like they used to be, Mister Squirrel is proof that these are the good old days.

Can from Micro Beer Crate. Pours a cloudy amber with small white head Aroma of grainy malts, doughy bread and hay. Has a light refreshing body that has a good smoothness to it Taste of doughy and roasted malts with a grassy, hay and citrus zest noted hops running through. Moderate bitterness throughout. A charred roast note coming through in the aftertaste slightly distracts from the rest of the beer. Overall though an interesting bitter.

(Cask at The George, Strand, London, 15 Nov 2023) Pale amber colour with foamy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of toast, dried fruit and roasted grain. Malty taste with toast, roasted grain, apricots and a gentle earthy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Tasty and well balanced bitter. Nice one.

Cask at Mad Squirrel, High Wycombe. Amber with a white head. Brown bread, some blackberry, some earth and light caramel. A little thin. Pretty average bitter, although if pushed I'd have guessed it was 0.5% weaker than it actually is.
