500 ml bottle. Opaque black pour. Frothy tan head. Sweet, toasted malt aroma. Perhaps a hint of soy and brown sugar. Flavor is sweet roasted malt, dark brown sugar, bittersweet chocolate and dark dried fruit. Smooth and flavorful. Hops are subdued, as they should be for the style. Very malt forward and an excellent representation of the Doppelbock style.

Bottle at home. One year old. Pours a dark brown colour with a small light beige head. Aroma of raisins, cocoa, coffee, leather, walnuts and dark chocolate. Flavour of walnuts, dark chocolate, leather, coffee and ash. Has a slick mouthfeel, medium to full body and a light to medium bitterness. Roasted and nice with great complexity.

Bottle. Roasty aroma, bit of chocolate but also something a little fruity. Taste is good. Quite malty, some roast again, bit of milky sweetness almost, dry, bit boozy, slight sourness. Some Schwarz elements. Soy sauce. Liquorice, dark fruit. Yeasty.

Tap at Kamikaze, deep brown with a tan head and toasty cocoa biscuit aroma. Medium bodied you get chewy malts and loads of cocoa on a very smooth body. Great.

Pours a nice black coffee from a bottle, light khaki head leaves a small ring. Roasty, charred wood, cola aroma, similar flavor, starts slightly sweet but finishes nicely bitter. Pretty good beer.

At Ghent Beer Festival 2017. Hazy black with a thin, off-white head. The aroma contains nuts, (roasted) malt, caramel, cocoa, smoke and soy sauce. It tastes medium sweet and light bitter, with faint sour notes and a light roasted finish. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Though it’s not as devilishly good as they make it to be, I liked it.
