Cask at The Black Lion, Bourne End. Light amber with a thick white head and a pleasantly frothy mouthfeel - great condition! Good full jammy summer fruits taste with butter and toffee, then a little chilli and citrus in the moderately bitter finish. This would be a decent bitter if it weren't for the diacetyl. I'm sometimes not averse to diacetyl (I rather like Innis and Gunn beers for example), but in this instance it's really not working, which is a shame because as I say, it's a pretty good beer otherwise.

From cask at Lord Nelson. Pours clear and golden orange with a small off-white head. Aroma is fruity hops, light malty note. Solid citrusy to apple hops fruity. Dry. Light liqourice touch. Very dry indeed, providing a thin mouthfeel, nice fruity hops flavoured into the finish.

Cask at Lord Nelson, Copenhagen. A hazy amber beer with an off-white head. The aroma has notes of malt and a bit of caramel. The flavor is sweet with light notes of malt and caramel, leading to a bitter finish. Nothing wrong, but nothing exciting either.

Cask-conditioned at the Bag ONails, Bristol 8/7/08. Copper coloured with a decent, off-white head. Caramel and red fruit aroma with a touch of earthy hops. Flavour started slightly sweet before a prickly, citrus hop finish. Good.
