Handpull cask at the Salmon, Leicester. Purplish brown, translucent. A smooth beige head on top. Liquorice and blackberry in the aroma. And in the taste as well. Sweet with only a hint of roast malt. A bitter/sour hoppy note balances the finish. Body is really watery for a porter. Not a fantastic beer, but it’s drinkable.

Two hand-pulled half-pints during the 22nd Festival At The Edge: July 2013. Very dark, in fact black in colour with a thick creamy tan head. Strong, sweet aroma of roasted malts and dark berries. The taste was also sweetish with again dark berries to the fore. Body a bit thin but flavoursome enough.

On gravity at the Tewkesbury Beer festival, 4/02/2011. Jet black, with a slick of tan passing as a head. Sweet, berry fruit and chocolate aroma, with robust roasted malts. Flavour of oat grains, prune and charcoal, with some sweet black currant in the finish. Enjoyable.

Half on gravity at London Drinker BF 08, evening session. No head. Black body with ruby hints. The light aroma is predominantly sweet dark fruits and malt. A rather unusual taste for a porter with hop resin, dark fruits and notes of honey sweetness. Smooth bitter finish. Medium palate (12.03.2008).
