Barrel-Aged Blend brewed with Firestone Walker

The Collaboration series is our way to bring shared beer ideas to life with some of our favorite brewery friends from around the world. This year, we bring you a specially blended, barrel-aged beer with the help of our sister brewery in California, Firestone Walker. With Collaboration No. 6, Brewmasters Steven Pauwels and Matt Brynildson have created a big, bold flavor combination by blending two Boulevard beers and two Firestone Walker Beers in the following percentages:

Boulevard Bourbon Barrel Quad - 45%
Firestone Walker Stickee Monkee - 35%
Boulevard Imperial Stout X - Tart Cherry (whiskey barrel-aged) - 10%
Firestone Walker Velvet Merkin - 10%

Botella 66 CL de Vivalabirra tomada en Belmonte 18..12..2023. Color negro intenso con poca espuma oscura. Sabores intensos maltosos con toques de licores, maderas empapadas en bourbon. Ligeros caramelizado y tostados. Cuerpo medio a intenso con bastante sabor. Bastante buena para repetir sin duda alguna.

2018 bottle pours a murky amber with a little off white head. Nose is huge with brown sugar, booze, plenty of dried fruits. All the blended beers seem to work well together. Flavors of marzipan, brown sugar, caramel, some booze, plenty of dried fruits. Full bodied and off dry, but pretty smooth.

(Bottle) Dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, slightly vinous nose with caramel, dried fruit, raisins, prunes, chocolate, dark bread, spices and a touch of alcohol. Malty taste with notes of caramel, dried fruit, raisins, prunes, brown sugar, port wine, chocolate and a mild spicy bitterness in a vinous finish. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Quite powerful, but warming and really tasty. Very nice.

Bottle. 2017 vintage. Pours a dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma of brown sugar, licorice, oak, bourbon, forest floor, alcohol and rye bread. Flavour of brown sugar, rye bread, licorice, bourbon, oak and some tobacco. Hints of cocoa in a little dry ending. Has a slick mouth feel, full-bodied and a light bitterness. Very rich with lots of bourbon. A little unbalanced.

Super deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish off-white, creamy head that starts off at about a centimetre tall and fades to just about nothing. Aroma of roasted malt, pitted fruits, light earth, nuts, coffee, light oatmeal, lactose and some cream/milk. Medium-bodied; Strong roasted malt flavours dominate with a light dose of peat and tobacco with a touch of honey and lactose with a bit of coffee and earth with some soft pitted fruit finishes that shows prunes and raisins especially, with a dash of nuts, all ending smooth and sweet. Aftertaste is lightly dry, with bunches of roasted malts, nuts, earth and a lot of cream and pitted fruits with a lot of residual sugars and a touch of the alcohol peaking through as well. Overall, a very nice and fairly easy-drinking beer, with a lot of complexity at the end, but still showing a smooth and sweet beer at the end. I sampled this caged and corked 75 cL bottle purchased from Costco in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 22-February-2017 for US$11,59 sampled at home in Manassas, Virginia on 25-December-2019, Christmas Day, almost 3 years later.

750 ml corked and crowned bottle. Dark brown pour. Small creamy beige head. Rich roasted malt nose has vinous notes. Hints of oak and dark dried fruit. Sweet roasted malt flavor. More dark dried fruits. Cherries, prunes, figs and sultanas. Complex and layered with flavor. Have been sitting on this for a couple of years. Well worth the wait.

Eh, mix list sounds nuts, actual mix is eh, winey watery but roasty?
