Pint from the cask at The Anglers, Walton on Thames. It pours amber with a white creamy head. Aromas & tastes of fruits, caramel, brown sugar & malt. Medium body. Light bitter finish. Drunk by the Thames on a sunny March afternoon this was enjoyable enough to have a second!

Cask at Swan, Farnborough. 4.4% ABV. Vague malty aroma. Amber brown. Creamy White head but blotchy. Hmmm... surprisingly sweet and fruity. A definite sugar hit. Some sourness I to the finish. Light bodied. Thin but benefits from a soft carbonation. Abrupt finish. Actually rather enjoying this. Not the bland bitter In was expecting - where are the twigs?

Cask at the Duck in the Pond, Harrow Weald. Deep golden with a negligible white head. Sweet honey and caramel dominates and rather overpowers the light citrus notes behind. Too sweet I reckon, and the dry leafy hops that try (but fail) to offer a balancing bitterness in the finish really don’t go.

Cask at the Henry Addington. Light amber colour clear with a dense white cap. Some lace. Aroma is mineral, dishwater, light caramel. Flavour is light sweet caramel, slightly nutty with low berry hop. Palate is very thin and watery. Disappointing boring beer.

Cask at the Surrey Arms, Camberley, 12/04/14. Clear golden amber with a moderate off white swirl and edgework. Nose is toffee, biscuit, straw, fruit loaf. Taste comprises toffee apple, biscuit malt, fruit cake, caramel. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation with a subtle bitter linger. Adequate bitter ... file under ’W’ for whelming.
