(Bottle) Black colour with brief, foamy, pale brown head. Malty, roasted, complex nose with notes of dark chocolate, liquorice, oak wood, whisky barrels, black rye bread, treacle, orange peel and dried fruit (prunes, dates). Malty, roasted, vinous taste with coffee, liquorice, oak wood, whisky, black rye bread, orange peel, a touch of tamarind and a solid coffee/cacao bitterness in the finish. Full body, quite sweet. Solid and well made with a good wood touch and an impressive bitterness. Very nice.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an opaque thick, rich black with a brown head. Rich, thick aroma of licorice and subtle roast. Body is extremely thick, bordering syrupy. Heavy roast and chocolate but pretty drinkable alright. 191214

Appearance: Black as the deepest dungeon. A nice big beige head that leaves a fine lacing.
Aroma: Oak, chocolate and a bit fruity.
Palate: Medium to full body. Tad sweet with an ok bitterness. Average to soft carbonation.
Taste: Oak, rich licorice, chocolate and a bit fruity.
Overall impression: Powerful taste in this one. But felt a bit “sharp”. Should have stayed longer in the basement. Well masked alcohol.
Personal stats: Bottle from Systembolaget web order, Sweden

12oz bottle via Secret Santa Winter 2013/14. Looked like motor oil out of the bottle, very thick, opaque, jet black with just wisps of beige head. Nose has a ton of molasses and licorice, chewy toffee, some coffee bean, some malt, some toast, hints of booze, dried fruits too. Flavor follows, big thick sweet molasses, some booze, vanilla, brown sugar, a little toasted coconut, raisin, licorice. Thick, syrupy finish but certainly not cloying.
