Licorice, roast and lots of chocolate. Lots of whiskey. Massive barrel, massive booze. Not really my ticket, but I can see why people would like this. Bittersweet finish. Caramel. Bottle.

330ml bottle from HoTM. It pours jet black with a sturdy dark tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, dark chocolate, gateaux, dried and dark fruits, plum, prune, bramble, jammy, vanilla, blueberry muffin toasted coconut, whisky fudge, toasted marshmallow, rocky road, intoxicating fruity whisky and fruit cake. The taste is slick, rich roasted malt, bitter, charred oak, umami, liquorice, dried fruits, raisin, sultana, toasted fruit cake, ashy, vanilla, toasted marshmallow, bitter dark chocolate, cacao nibs, toasted spice, rocky road, touch of jam, fruit compote spread on burnt toast, bonfire smoke and some alcohol warmth with a drying, charred finish. Fulsome body and fine to moderate carbonation. Plenty to like about it. Flavourful, but perhaps a touch charred/burnt also. Fun nonetheless.

Panda thanks to Sir Theydon of Bois. An almost opaque dark brown beer with a few dark tan bubbles that don't quite manage to be a head. Smooth palate, a very slight viscosity, mildly dry with decent fine carbonation coming through on the back end. Good dark chocolate malt base, little chocolate fudge and cocoa. Very ripe fruity whiskey, almost marmalade like with some prune underneath. Mild spice on the smooth finish. Well Ivan ain't to fucken terrible here is he? Very tasty and drinkable.
