Small tan brown rim, uniform black beer. Dry chocolate, ink, flaked grains, chocolate breakfast grains. Chocolate, intense as black chocolate. Pralines with black ganache. Whisky untraceable. Very full bodied, bit alcoholheat, ultra slick, viscous. Not so bad as the numbers might suggest, just not outstanding. 6/4/7/4/14

Sampled at vcbf 2017. Thnx for sharing, Tim and Eugene! Pours black, small ring of foam. Smell is dry, very roasty. Mild booze. Taste is intense, roast, black malts. Booze (quite intense ) . Ok.

Thank you kraddel & tderoeck! Sampled draft @ VCBF 2017. This one is probably my least favourite of the non-peated ones of the new series, still only 0.2 difference with the top rated one. Black, dark mocha only small rim on the sides, looks like the others of the currently released series. Nose is thick molasses Black Albert syrup, something herbal, thick flat pancake Black Albert sryup. Taste is syrup, quite boozy, some raw varnish alcohol here. Flat alcoholic varnish molasses Black Albert. Feels closer to modern Black Albert than the old series, I assume that age took away the complexities. Nice but not the heights of yore. Touch to harsh even given the territory.

11/VI/17 - on tap @ Vleteren Craft Beer Festival - BB: n/a (2017-835) Thanks to 77ships and kraddel for sharing today's beers!
Clear dark brown beer, creamy beige head, pretty stable, non adhesive. Aroma: roasted hazelnuts, sweet, malty, caramel, dried fruits. MF: soft carbon, full body. Taste: lots of alcohol, sweet touch, bit sourish, very roasted, lots of dark chocolate. Aftertaste: more roast, alcohol, coffee grit, very bitter and hoppy finish.
