This Imperial Stout was brewed with tons of European and American malt before aging in California grape brandy and Kentucky bourbon barrels for 20 months. This blend showcases what can be uncovered when you explore beyond your comfort zone, together.
Made in collaboration with our buds at Bissell Brothers in Portland, Maine. We set out to make an Imperial Stout melding an intriguing blend of European caramel and chocolate malts. The can showcases the dynamic art of our own John Schriner.

Canned 1/15/25, drunk 12/5/25, as pictured.
Big port-like sweetness with soft round fruits and lots of caramel. Some bourbon richness atop sweet, round malts. No alcohol noted.
Flavor is similar but is just a bit light and watery, relative to style and for its size. Pushing it on the sweetness with the caramel, raisin, vanilla and grape character all outdoing spicy bourbon or acidity from malt or barrel tannin.

Panda thanks to Wingman. Pretty much an opaque dark brown beer, good bubbly dark tan head. Light palate all told, but smooth in the mid, decent fine carbonation for the style. Doesn't have a big rich fluffy mouthfeel this one (if only) but the dark malts are suitably rich. Good dark chocolate and ripe soaked bourbon fruits, spicy bourbon booze. The grape brandy seems to lighten and provide a nice contrast to the bourbon, kinda white wine on steroids. Light finish. Works well and slips down dangerously easy.

Sample at Jackie O's on Fourth during the "19th Anniversary Extravaganza" on 03/22/2025. Flat black pour with a medium thin beige head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, malt and chocolate. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky bourbon, burnt malt, dark chocolate and vanilla. The finish is oaky with a bourbon and charred malt aftertaste. Good beer all around.
